Don't be ALARMED! We can't wait for this Wednesday, January 15th, as we partner with our community emergency responders in celebration of Welcome Wednesdays at Terry Redlin Elementary! If you see emergency lights going off at the school to start the day this Wednesday, DON'T BE ALARMED, that's just how we roll for Welcome Wednesdays when our emergency responders come to welcome our students to school from 7:30am-8:00am.
Terry Redlin Elementary students with perfect attendance had the chance to pie their teachers in the face this week! We had 44 students who were in school every day for the 2nd quarter! During our all school assembly to celebrate their attendance, students counted down to see their classmates splatter the staff with a whipped cream pie! We have the best students and staff at Terry Redlin and we love celebrating how great they are!
Our theme for attendance during the 2nd quarter was, "Attendance is a Big Dill". 44 students had perfect attendance this quarter and were able to celebrate with Rochelle Holloway, Attendance Liaison, and their parents by having a dill pickle prior to our school wide assembly on Thursday! 24 students have had perfect attendance all year! Way to go, students!
There is no school on Friday, January 10th as this is a teacher work day. Enjoy the 3-day weekend!

We held our final SOARing breakfast before winter break this week. This is our opportunity to celebrate our outstanding students. Students are nominated by staff for showing self-control, ownership, positive attitude, and being respectful. Families were treated to an inspirational message by Sioux Falls Fire Inspector, Mark Ellens, husband of Terry Redlin Elementary's Instructional Coach, Kelsey! Congrats, Eagles!!

Celebrate Church has generously put together a food bag with meat, vegetables, and lot of food for ALL families at our school. There will also be recipes in the bag! Every oldest child will come home with this large, heavy bag tonight after school. The meat is in an insulated pouch, however, you will want to put in your refrigerator/freezer when your child gets home. Have a great holiday break!
Throughout December, our students and staff have been tying blankets for Project Warm-up. A special thank you to Augustana University soccer for helping our students with this amazing project.
Our SOARing students all earned a popcorn/movie party in their classroom for earning over 8,000 SOAR slips this month! Ms. Cartner's 2nd graders earned over 1,000 in their class! Mrs. Saavedra's 4th graders had fun tickets to enter into the movie with while enjoying their popcorn!
Students in library recently put their engineering to the test by making sleighs and candy canes!
Mrs. Saavadra's 4th graders built gingerbread houses with their buddies in Kindergarten (Miss Ounnarath's class). We are proud of our students as they love when they get to spend time with their buddies!
The last day of school before winter break is tomorrow, December 20th. Our theme is holiday headwear. We want to see your antlers, caps, and anything else you can find to wear on your head!
Staff participated in a holiday door decorating contest this month! Congratulations to Mrs. Hallstrom (speech language pathologist) for her winning door featuring Mr. Wagner (assistant principal) as Clark from the Christmas Vacation movie! In second place, we had a tie between Kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Amdahl and Mrs. Naasz, for their gingerbread house and barnyard designs. Honorable mention went to the student support team for their Elfie Selfie! Stay tuned to see the rest of the doors!
3rd graders recently decorated gingerbread houses and displayed them in the library!
